better meet the orthopedic,
spine, neurosurgical and
gastroenterology needs of
the community, Georgetown
Hospital System is constructing a
90,000-square-foot medical service/
physician oce building on the
campus of Waccamaw Community
Hospital in Murrells Inlet.
e new facility, to be known as
Waccamaw Medical Park – West, will
house a comprehensive orthopedic,
spine and neurosurgery service
line and include oce space for
orthopedic surgeons, spine surgeons
and neurosurgeons. Physical,
occupational and speech therapy,
neuro rehabilitation, and pain
management services also will be
available to provide improved patient
convenience and access.

Patients at the new facility will
experience a new model of care.
With the ability to plan a physician
oce visit, have basic lab draws
completed, undergo imaging studies
including the latest MRI technology,
and have physical rehabilitation
or pain management services all
in the same building, patients will

population growth in the area, led
to this service line and construction
of the new facility in which it will be
housed.
Neurosurgery services will be
provided by neurosurgeons from
Medical University of South Carolina
(MUSC).

In addition to the neuroscience and
related services, Waccamaw Medical
Park – West will also include a new
endoscopy suite and oce space
for Waccamaw Gastroenterology,
oering improved patient
convenience for those needing
gastroenterology services.
Georgetown Hospital System’s
NextStep Pain Management
Services, NextStep Adult Outpatient
Rehabilitation Services and NextStep
Neurological Rehabilitation Services
will move from current locations
in Waccamaw Medical Park – East
across Highway 17 bypass to the new
building.
Local patients can expect to
begin accessing some services and
physician oces in the new building
beginning in the
rst quarter of 2012.
Most of the building is expected to
be occupied by the third quarter of
the year.
