Georgetown
Hospital System is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization
that was founded on the belief that health care should be made available to
members of our community regardless of age, race or socioeconomic status.
The health system is committed to offering programs and services that benefit
the community by providing access to health care resources for the poor and
medically underserved residents of Horry, Georgetown and surrounding counties.
These programs impact the health status of our community, reduce community
health costs, are accessible by the entire community regardless of one’s ability to
pay and often involve partnerships with other community organizations. Each
year, GHS collects information and submits it to the South Carolina Hospital
Association to demonstrate how these programs have helped people in our area.
Criteria for reporting community benefit information are consistent and follow
SCHA guidelines. The stories on pages 2 and 3 are programs that meet the criteria
to be included in community benefit and provide great examples of how GHS is
working to fulfill its charitable mission to our community.
